The draft order shall be determined by the ranking of the teams from last to first (4321) and is unsnaked (43214321...) Each year the draft is as long as is needed for all teams to fill their pro and farm teams (27 players). Once a team has filled their team they are to drop out of the draft and their place in the draft is forfeited.
In the event of an expansion team or teams being entered into the draft they shall occupy the top spots in the draft.
Free Agents are any player not under contract by another owner. One week subsequent to the draft, each team has an unlimited amount of FA pick ups. The salary cap is not excused in this time. This gives each team a chance to sort out their line-up. After the one week has expired they have 5 FA pickups throughout the year. Pickups from ones farm team is not counted towards the 5 FA pickups since they are a member of the team and on the payroll.
EXPANSION PROCESS: 1) Expansion Owners shall pay their fees before any drafts take place. 2) Expansion Draft - Draft of any unprotected players, or free agents, or players off waivers (Excludes players drafted in the most recent NHL Entry draft (eg. this year will be the drafted players in 2009)) consisting of 12 rounds. 3) Regular Draft for all owners and teams (includes any player playing in the NHL or who has been drafted into the NHL, including the most recent year that is not owned by another fantasy league owner).
Any Players can be traded in a Player for Player trade. In a trade during the season (Before the trade deadline) players may trade: a) Player for Player; b) Player for $ c) Player for Draft Pick(s). Since Yahoo! doesn't trade draft picks and $, Insert the Amount of Money or Draft pick into the "Comments" portion. Any Trade can be Vetoed by the League Owners. Conditional Draft picks are tradable.
Entry Fees are 30$. 20$ goes towards the the Championship Payout and 10$ goes into each account for Transactions. At the end of each year the owner has the options to keep their 10$ in the account. Once a Champion is crowned, the money will be divided up accordingly (ex. 50% prize pool to Champ, 30% to 2nd and 20% to 3rd). Once you have a total amount of Money at the end of a season, an owner may leave $10 in the Transaction acount and may keep the profit, OR take everything and come back again next year. Whatever your net profit is for the year, you may take 10 per cent of that and add it to you $10 in the transaction account. For example if you win $50 you may take 5$ and place that in your transaction account to have 15$ in there. If an owner chooses to pass on the extra money in the transaction account they cannot compensate for it another year.
The Salary Cap for the first year is to be $125M (6 Owners). Each year the salary cap will change (either up or down) depending on the amount of teams we have and the amount of players we choose to have. If a team is over the cap limit they're account will be frozen until such time that they have brought they're Salary under the required amount.
The salary cap will change anytime the league size changes.
Farm team pickups will only be allowed to play if their first game is Monday or Tuesday. No mid week exchanges are allowed with the excpetion of an IR slot being filled. If a player is injured mid-week and placed on the IR, an owner has the right to pick up another farm team player as soon as possible
EXPANSION TEAMS: Each existing team shall be allowed to protect: a)2 Goalies, 4 forwards and 2 defenceman, or b) 2 Goalies, 3 forwards and 3 defenceman, or c) 1 Goalie, 4 forwards, and 3 defenceman.
Each Expansion team shall have a pick of a maximum of 2 players from each team. The rest shall be filled from Free Agency (This does not include players from the most recent NHL Entry Draft). In the event that 2 or more expansion teams arise in one year, there shall be an unsnaked (1212121212) draft order chosen randomly in which the teams draft unprotected players from other owners around the league. Players Drafted in the Previous 2 NHL Entry Drafts are automatically Protected and do not need to be placed on the Protected Players List.
